Aluminum Wiring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is another outdated type of wiring, which has a higher\nchance of creating fire hazards than newer copper wiring. You\u2019re most likely to\nfind aluminum wiring in homes built during the 1960s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ol\u2019 Fuse Box<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s another piece of obsolete electrical technology you may\nhave in your house: the fuse box. Today, the breaker panel has replaced the fuse\nbox: it\u2019s more convenient, and safer as well. With the increase of electrical\nuse in homes, fuse boxes need larger and larger fuses, and that is a big safety\nhazard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But just because you have an electrical panel doesn\u2019t mean\nyour house is in the clear. Older panels can be dangerous as well. You can\u2019t simply have a new panel put in, or switch to GFCI and AFCI\noutlets and call it a day.
